Hardwood Lake Property Owners Association
Prescott, Michigan
Established October 23, 1975
WEED CONTROL
In the late 1990's Hardwood Lake began to fill with non-native weeds. Mainly Eurasian Watermilfoil and Curlyleaf Pondweed.
Property owners on the lake petitioned to form a Lake Improvement Board. The Board was established in 1995 and established a special assessment district.
The Lake Improvement Board hired ProgresiveAE of Grand Rapids to manage the program. The program consists of herbiciding and mechanical harvesting.
The Lake Improvement Board is made up of local elected officials along with a member of the Hardwood Lake Property Owners Association.
Contact association representative David Sommers for information.
For more information on weed control and lake management goto the Midwest Aquatic Plant Management Society or to Michigan Lake Info.
